Abandoned Theme Parks

Okpo Land, South Korea

If i was to get a camera and take pictures I would pick Okpo Land because a lot of things happened there an it would be a good opportunity and show the evidence and capture things that people may not have known. I think that people would like to see how it looked now. It was shut down in 1999 after all of the things that happened .. the owners just left it like that, literally no one knew about it, they just left.
I think some places would be good to take photos of are like haunted mansions, war zones, the era in Africa, or abandoned ships, and in the jungle. One that i would chose is the Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania because it would be fun to find things about it because is haunted and some people are probably too scared to go inside to take pictures so the pictures that would be taken would be very rare. If I were a photographer, I would take pictures of things like this .. things that people don't usually take pictures of just because its a risk. To be able to take pictures at this place I would have to get a plane ticket to Philadelphia and get all the equipment like the camera, things like night vision because its probably really dark in there. To take the pictures it wouldn't break any laws because they allow visits. Also, it would probably a lot of money because of traveling and all the equipment that is needed but overall I think that it would be a good project.

Great black and white photographers, PART 3

When I first looked at the photographers photos I liked them because she took pictures of unique things and also because she would be in her own pictures. On the first photo I see a girl maybe a librarian reaching out on the bookshelf trying to get a book. I smell the smell of new books and newspaper. I hear silence because it is a library and all the people are quiet reading their books. I feel the intention of the photo, It looks like she is trying to be sneaky about it. The second photo there is a girl looking out of the window sitting on the window seal with one leg on it and the other just resting. I smell the smell of a new house. I hear silence because it seems like she is all to herself and she is just relaxing

Academic shoot reflection

1. What challenges did you encounter while trying to get the photos following the rules I set out for you?  It hard trying to capture some rules because most of the classrooms were just sitting down and learning, there weren't many that were actually up and doing things.

2. What technical aspects of photography or the assignment in general (focus, framing, holding the camera, etc.) did you find yourself thinking about the most? Provide a specific example of what you did to do this correctly. I was mostly thinking about focusing the camera like when I was taking a picture of a student drawing i tried to focus mostly on the drawing but still included the student in the picture.

3. If you could do the assignment again, what would you do differently now that you know some basic rules of photography? I would have tried to take more pictures using the rules of photography

4. What things would you do the same? I would have kept what i had taken pictures of because overall i think that it was a good example of Academics shoot

5. When you go out with your next set of prompts, which rule do you think will be the easiest to achieve? I think that the easiest rule for me is The Rule of Thirds

6. Which rule do you think will be the hardest to capture? The hardest rule for me is Avoiding Mergers

7. What rule are you still not totally clear on and what can you do to figure out what that rule is? I think i need a better understanding of Avoiding Mergers

My photos

I chose this picture as framing because I think that the lights above the students frame the photo. I think that if people saw this picture they would know what rule was used. I think that I could have gotten the picture better though but it does show framing.

I chose this picture as lines because the chairs and the tables are in a straight line and also the students. When people see this I think that they will get that the rule is Lines. I could have taken this picture by taking it from directly in front of the tables to show the line in between the two tables.

I chose this as simplicity because the photo is focused directly on the drawing that the student was doing. The background is just the table and some other papers but you can tell that the picture is meant to be focused on just that drawing. I think that people would know what this rule was.

I chose this picture as the rule of thirds because the picture wasn't taken from directly i the middle. The students are more to the right since I took the picture more on from the right angle. The students are the main thing in the picture and the cabinets are just in the background. I think that if someone saw this photo they would know what rule it is.

I chose this photo as balance because the picture is balanced. There are students in the front of the picture and on the far end. I think that this is a good example of a balanced picture and I think if someone were to see this picture, they would know what rule I was using.

I chose this picture as an Avoiding mergers picture because the teacher is using the background in the picture. In this picture its focused mainly on the teacher but the students are still in the picture. I think that I could have taken a better Avoiding Mergers rule better because this on isn't so good. I think that to make it a better picture I could have focused on the teacher more and what she was doing.

Instagram

1. What theme that we could take here at school could we do a series of these panels to place around the school?
I think that the theme could be like the schools sports
2. Should we use phones only, or should we open it up to our regular cameras for those people that don't have camera phones?
I think that we should do it on cameras so that everyone can participate
3. Where would you want to put the mural on campus?
In the cafeteria where everyone can see it.

Nick Brandt

This is my favorite photo because I like how the baby elephant is behind the bigger one. I think that the photographer took it at a really good angle and it came out really good. I think that this picture is an example of The Rule of Thirds because the picture is not directly in the middle and it wasn't taken from directly in front of them, it was taken from an angle.  He photographs with medium-format black and white film without telephoto or zoom lenses, he uses a Pentax 6711 with only two fixed lenses. Brandt took pictures of animals in Africa because he loved animals and the land of East Africa. His hope is that animals are treated better. "this belief that every animal and I are equal, affects me every time I frame an animal in my camera." He hopes for a change in the world and the way people view things.
